Saddle up for a clay-slingin’ adventure into the wild, sunbaked heart of the Southwest! In this Western-themed session, students will kick off the year by sculpting desert-inspired pottery, from coiled snake pots to cowboy boot mugs, cactus lanterns, and longhorn trays. This session is full of grit, texture, and wild imagination.
Students will:
Learn foundations of pottery: handbuilding, wheel throwing, sculpting, scoring, and slip
Master 10 decorative techniques including texture pressing, sgraffito, coiling, sprigging, and more
Receive a themed student workbook with sketch prompts and design inspiration
Explore Western storytelling through clay forms, symbols, and texture
Begin building their creative voice and confidence in the studio
Whether they’re carving desert motifs or building snake jars from scratch, every student will walk away with bold, handmade pieces. Perfect for bringing the spirit of the Wild West to life in clay.
